I'm an A+ certified Computer Technician working at the Newspaper. I support over 150 PCs, both hardware and software by myself, but I love the work. I run a side business upgrading, repairing and building computer systems. I also train individuals on computer software such as Windows, Excel, Word, Internet Apps and many more. I don't advertise my business other than the internet, I work mostly on word of mouth customers. I design graphics and web sites on the side just for fun.

GINA W.
gina@ginawilson.com
www.ginawilson.com
Freelance graphic designer specializing in identity systems, publications and collateral, Web and multimedia.

Work for a company that does corporate outplacement of employees. Have been on the Dell project of 2001 and on the Broadwing project of 2002. I'm very active in non-profit organizations. I co-chair Club Skirt, volunteer for aGLIFF (www.agliff.org) during its Oscar party and Film Festival, and Waterloo Counseling Center's annual fundraiser, the Chocolate Fantasy and Art Auction (www.waterloocounseling.org/achocolatefantasy). I love this list because I've learned a lot of information--things I never learned by being an English major!

HOLLY  V.
academres@aol.com
Moved to Austin in 1969 (the first time) and have been involved in technology since the mid-1980s. (For example, learned to program with BASIC on the Atari800 and with FORTRAN on the Vax). Got side-tracked into consulting for non-profits period with heavy duty grant writing, strategic planning and contract project management. Owned my own firm in Grand Rapids (aka "Bland Rapids") from 1992 until I moved back to Austin last year with my partner.

Live in the far south of town (Onion Creek) and am still trying to find my niche in the new Austin scene. Ready, willing and able to work in the .com world -- but apparently haven't yet knocked on the right door. Have a Ph.D., but at this point would trade it for knowledge of SQL or something a little more in demand. Working on mastering HTML as a start. Have six children -- one of whom, Kayte VanScoy, referred me to this great organization.
